Kimbella's Candy, a boutique, family-owned confectionary company in Christchurch swept the board at the 2020 Outstanding New Zealand Food Producers Awards just recently. And it's easy to see why! Their handcrafted, small batch, old world candy recipes have been refined and perfected using sweet, creamy, rich New Zealand butter, and the finest nuts and vanilla. Divine.

We love their mouth-wateringly good Old Fashioned Cashew Brittle. $11.00/250g. kimbellascandy.com.

My oh my....this is our kind of fruit salad. The clever cookies at Makana Confectionary have packaged up a selection of their finest fruit flavours including Ginger, Plums, Cherries, Strawberries and Apple all generously dipped in chocolate as well as their Zesty Panache, Wildberry Panache and Chocolate jelly squares. All of their chocolates are hand-made and use only the freshest, natural ingredients available.

Fudge cravings

You can't beat a good piece of fudge and the guys at NZ Fudge Farm have nailed it. Creamy, crumbly, melt in your mouth - with an array of unique flavours that will have you wondering which one to order (tip - order them all, you'll thank us later!) Based in Whangarei, their award-winning fudge is made the old-fashioned way, using pure, whole ingredients fresh off the farm.

Top sellers include their Salted Caramel and Chocolate Supreme Fudge but we can't get enough of their Baileys Fudge - two of our favourite things in one delicious morsel! $6.80/180g. nzfudgefarm.co.nz.

Falling for the Potter Brothers

Ben and Joe Potter are continuing a family legacy with their Potter Brothers brand. Their parents made great chocolate, and they have now picked up the mantle, crafting a spectacular range of nostalgia-and-drool-inducing chocolates from their own factory in Levin. They love reminding Kiwis of their childhoods with their reimagined Kiwi classics covered in creamy chocolate.

We are especially fond of their Jellies 'n' Cream in Milk Chocolate. The peach, strawberry and boysenberry jelly gum lollies against decadent chocolate is super moreish. but you won't go wrong with any of the selections! $4.50/130g. potterbrothers.co.nz.
