The Ironclad Pan Company launches the Lil’ Legacy

The Ironclad Pan Company, producers of the only New Zealand made cast iron skillet, has added a second design to its Legacy collection.

The launch comes hot on the heels of the original Ironclad Legacy Pan, which saw record sales for the Kiwi brand earlier this year and is favoured by celebrity chefs, Peter Gordon and Michael Van de Elzen.

The Lil’ Legacy is a smaller, lighter 200mm cast iron skillet, ideal for single meals and sauces. Like all Ironclad Cookware, the Lil’ Legacy is 100% New Zealand made and hand-poured to order in an Auckland foundry.

The launch comes at a time when more Kiwis are cooking at home than ever before. According to Google, almost 37,000 New Zealanders have searched for cookware in the past month alone. Of those, 7,200 people were researching cast iron pans specifically.

“We had such a fantastic response to the first Ironclad Pan, our 280mm mid family-sized cast iron skillet. Customers started asking us for a smaller, lighter option, so we made one,” explains Joe Carter, co-founder of The Ironclad Pan Company. “We have released it just in time for Father’s Day – the perfect gift for the foodie in your life.”

“There’s a reason that cast iron skillets are topping gift guides around the world,” adds Kate Slavin, co-founder and Head of Design at The Ironclad Pan Company. “They’re a useful, thoughtful present that dad will be using for years and years to come.”

Also made with recycled T-100 grade iron, the Lil’ Legacy has been designed to withstand three generations of daily use. Each Ironclad Pan comes with a Three Generation Guarantee™, the longest of any New Zealand cookware brand. The 100-year replacement guarantee is cast in iron on the base of every Ironclad Pan.

Unlike some other brands, Ironclad Cookware arrives fresh from the foundry unseasoned; because unseasoned means no paint or chemicals. However, everything that is needed to season the pan at home is included in the box.

The box includes a bottle of Marlborough Grape Seed Seasoning Oil, an Ironclad cotton storage bag, printed care instructions, and a hand-signed Three Generation Guarantee™. Every Lil’ Legacy also comes with free access to the Ironclad Family Recipe Vault – a closed social platform designed to store, share and save family recipes for generations to come.

Along with the Lil’ Legacy, The Ironclad Pan Company will also be unveiling a range of quality culinary accessories over the coming weeks. These include Grandma’s Hands – black and denim oven mitts, along with The Master and The Apprentice – adults and kids aprons that come in blue denim, black denim or linen. Plus, a limited edition leather handle cover for The Legacy Pan. Ideal complements to the beautiful cookware.

The Ironclad Pan Company was founded by two food loving friends – Joe Carter and Kate Slavin when they saw a gap in the market for a high-quality, New Zealand made cast iron skillet. They are supported by culinary advisor, Felicity Morgan-Rhind who develops mouth-wateringly delicious cast iron skillet recipes for the Ironclad community across their website and social media channels.
